In Review: Project Subohm Silver Play v2 RTA

image

It’s been a while since I’ve reviewed anything so what better day than today. We will take a look at Project Subohm’s Silver Play v2. I am a huge fan of RTA’s or any tank that has a rebuildable option, they offer more bang for your buck in my opinion. They offer capacity as oppose to drippers and save money with the absence of having to purchase pre-built coils. The pictures I have above are just a portion of this atty and I will discuss it more below.

Starting from the bottom picture this is the tank fully assembled with the options I chose. At the top we have a short slightly rifled 510 drip tip that is included. Moving down is the rounded top there is a squared one in the kit as well if you enjoy that style more. Next is the Pyrex glass tank also included is a spare glass piece and a metal piece which is perfect for work or travel, much more impact friendly. Inside the glass you can see the stove pipe and build deck housing. The build deck housing can be completely broken down. The second to last piece of the tank contains juice channels. And finally the bottom is our build deck and air flow channels with adjustable air flow ring, seen in the top right is a removable screw for filling.

What’s included in the kit is 1 drip tip, 2 Pyrex glass tanks, 1 metal tank, 2 different style bell caps, and several extra o-rings.

Pros: many style options, other standard drip tips can be used, lots of extras included, juice capacity, dual coil, build deck size, adjustable air flow, and nice construction.

Cons: bottom fill screw is basically useless, wicking is kind of a pain, single coil build not easily done, definitely not for rebuilding beginners, not a big fan of drip tip, and air flow ring falls off when tank is not mounted on mod.

Overall I am not crazy about this tank. I feel there are much better RTA’s out there. I am not disappointed with it as a whole, for me it’s still very much usable. I purchased it from vapor DNA for around $20 and still think it was a good value and buy. I definitely don’t recommend this product to new vapers even if they have began building. In my personal opinion I would and usually do pick my kanger sub tank over this tank. MTL is hard to achieve with this tank but can be done. Sorry if I have ruined this product for anyone and if you still want to purchase it I will not discourage you.

That’s all for now, vape on and continue the climb of being smoke free!

Today in the garage….. WTF?

Okay folks I’m a little pissed, not sure if I should be but for right now I am. As you can see from the screen shot some jackals asked in one of the vaping communities if you need a license to make and sell “vape juice”, WTF? This person is not a vaper nor ever has been what business do they have trying to make a profit from juice and has the balls to ask vapers this kind of a question. All I have to say is you sir are a DICK!

Now that that’s out of the way, my response to him was simple, vaping is a community and yes there is money to be made but at the end of the day it’s a vapers products that contribute to the community for the greater good. These juices and devices are life saving and I don’t feel that outsiders should really capitalize upon that not to mention it doesn’t even appeal to him why bother.

Thanks guys just had to get that off my chest, vape on and continue the climb on being smoke free!

DIY ejuice theroy: Pocket Steeping

I’m a very impatient person. Waiting for a new juice I mixed to steep for a week is like putting up a Christmas tree with presents under it in August. There are numerous methods people use to speed steep ejuice, my favorite is a hot water bath. Today’s post is just a theroy I have and there is no conclusive evidence to really support it and I welcome any input anyone has about it. So when I mix a fresh batch of juice I immediately proceed putting it in a Mason jar with water placed on top of a candle warmer (only put juice in a glass bottle when doing this) to begin the steeping process. The bottle will sit in there for an, then gets capped and shook, this goes on for a few hours. Now by doing this I am warming up the juice to allow the products to become the same viscosity and mix better together. There are several other was to quick steep and this is just my preferred method.

Let’s take my method apart, one, I am warming the juice so that all the products are the same viscosity, two,  I am shaking once an hour. The regular steeping method involves placing the juice in a dark room temperature place and shaking it a few times a day then wait. Other methods include warming and cooling the juice several times and then letting it rest.

Now I’ll get to the point, pocket steeping. When we put a bottle of juice in our pocket we are providing four things, a dark place out of sunlight, heating from our body temperature, shaking as we walk, and cooling when we are in the cold weather or possibly high air conditioning. Like I stated earlier this is just a theroy, but doesn’t kind of make sense? I have noticed color change and a much better flavor when I refill a tank after carrying a bottle of juice in my pocket. I don’t know you be the judge, am I full of crap or on to something?

Thanks guys, hope I see some comments on this. As always vape on and continue the climb on being smoke free!

Starting DIY on the cheap

At this point in your vaping lifestyle you have run across many other vapers that mix their own ejuice. This can be a great addition to your vaping “tool box”  and to your pocket. It has been shown that mixing your own juice can be a great savings. What some pay $10 for you can make just as good for pennies. But beware, getting started can be quite costly if you don’t take the time to do your homework. Here is a little guide on how I started making my own juice and fairly cheaply.

Homework: The Internet is your biggest tool but not your only tool. Search YouTube, forums, social media, and plain old Google. These places you can find coupon codes and specials for supplies, mixing tutorials, recipes, and other information. The folks on YouTube make mixing look easy but heed my warning, do not go gung-ho when shopping, we are trying to start cheaply. Gather your relative information in a note book or save sites to your favorites in a separate folder so you can refer back quickly.

Your First Purchases: Now that you have an idea of what and where you want to buy start purchasing. Now there are about a million places to buy flavors, vg, pg, bottles, syringes, etc. But we are using the key word CHEAP! So only buy the things you can’t find locally around you. Those will definitely be nicotine and pg unless you live near a place that sells diy stuff. Flavorings are locally accessible but many places do not have the selection you may want. Find a few recipes that are your all day vape or pretty close to it and get the flavors you need. Because we are doing this cheaply and just getting started 10ml bottles or so of flavoring will do just fine. Don’t go crazy and order fifty different flavors just yet. Mixing is a lot of trial and error, keep this in mind. So now we have placed our orders for the supplies we need and can’t find locally. A big thing to remember when ordering online is the heavier it is, the more it costs to ship. If the supplies you have around you are more expensive then go ahead and order online.

Things You Can Find Locally: The first place to look is somewhere you always have to go anyway, the grocery store. At the grocery store you can find liquid stevia sweetener, oral syringes if there is a pharmacy, and possibly flavoring if there is a cake decorating section (Read ingredients). Next, depending on the level of store you shop at there may be an organic section, you can find sweetener and vg in this section usually. The next place to look is a craft or art store. I always have saved all of my juice bottles I have bought but some people may not. If you have then wash and dry them, if not check art/craft stores for small glass jars or bottles and plastic squeeze bottles as well. Depending on your patience which I have none, find a candle warmer or small crock pot and a small Mason jelly jar to speed steep your juice, this is optional. Most of the things found locally cost next to nothing or are free.

Things To Remember : Start small, this may not be something you enjoy doing or just don’t want to. Safety, keep supplies away from children and pets. Take your time, making juice is supposed to be fun, don’t rush a batch just because your out of juice because the end result may just be nasty. Experiment, this is all trial and error, getting a recipie from someone who thinks it’s great may no be your taste.

Have fun with mixing your own juice and as always vape on and continue the climb of being smoke free!

In Review : Nicotine River

Hello all and happy new year. Today’s entry is going to be a review and my first for the blog and year. Over the holidays I purchased some goodies from a site that I check into often but have never purchased before. When I buy anything it’s never an impulse buy. I take weeks doing research to make sure I take advantage of sales, shipping cost and time, overall cost, reliability of the company, and most of all quality. Quite often I receive emails of special deals from this site which one gives me a better overall cost but also keeps the company on my mind. So let’s get started.

Nicotine River is one of many places to find all your diy juice needs. But what set them apart for me was an interview of the ceo I found about a year ago. His main goal was to provide quality for a reasonable price and he does. I purchased two 60ml bottles of TFA flavors for $6 each, a 250ml bottle of 60mg 50/50 nicotine and a liter of pg with a total cost of about $45 for the whole order with using the free standard shipping special they had at the time. It took about a week for me to receive the package via FedEx. Everything was nicely packed with no damage to any contents. In the package was a sticker(I love stickers) a order slip and a card. All bottles had a seal under the cap and the nic had all appropriate labels with batch number and date it was mixed. Overall I am very pleased with the prices, time, shipping and quality. My only concern is that the nic bottle doesn’t have a childproof cap. I am well aware that the bottle should be kept away from pets and children but think that a childproof cap would just be a nice safety feature.

All and all I will most definitely will be ordering supplies again from Nicotine River and would highly recommend them to everyone.

For now vape on and continue the climb in being smoke free!
